Higbee Inc. enjoys a reputation of excellence in the gasket and sealing products industry and is ISO 9001:2008 registered. Higbee Inc was founded in 1932 by Lyman Higbee and continued to be successful under the leadership of his son Larry Higbee. Higbee’s goal has been, and will continue to be, putting customers first and delivering world-class, cost competitive products on time.
After 40 years, Larry Higbee has decided to move on to the next chapter in his life. That being said, the continuing success of the business his father started is very important to him. When he started seriously considering selling Higbee Inc. he developed the profile of a “preferred” acquirer. This organization would have experience in the gasket business, a commitment to quality and customer service, a product portfolio that complimented Higbee’s product portfolio, and the financial strength to invest in equipment and technology to grow the business.
Larry and the Higbee management team believe that Seal & Design Inc. fits this profile perfectly.
Seal & Design President Dean S. Penman is also excited to welcome Higbee to the Seal & Design brand: “We think this move is a great opportunity for both parties and will strengthen our position with our clients as we will be able to offer more products to our existing customer bases,” he said.
Effective August 31, 2015 Seal & Design Inc. will acquire Higbee Inc. Higbee’s name will change from Higbee Inc. to Seal & Design Inc, Higbee Division.
Day to day, Higbee Division will continue to operate as normal and provide the same excellent service they always have. The synergy between the two companies will strengthen Seal & Design’s position in the national and global markets.
This is the second acquisition by Seal & Design. We first acquired Canadian competitor Able O-Rings in 2006 and have helped them become a market leader in Ontario. Today Seal & Design Inc, Able Division is thriving. Just as we have developed and cared for Able Division’s business and infrastructure, we plan to invest in Higbee Division to make them even more successful by always putting our customers’ needs first.
