PORON®
Urethane Foam Material
What is PORON®?
PORON® is a microcellular urethane foam with extremely low compression set. PORON materials are high density, flexible cellular products and are manufactured by continuously casting and curing mechanically frothed urethane intermediates to the desired thickness. By controlling chemistry and density, the properties of PORON®materials can be widely varied.
Rogers’ PORON® cellular urethane foam was engineered to have excellent memory (compression set resistance). Whether in gasket design, sealing, cushioning or vibration management, the PORON® line of products are low-outgassing, non-fogging, non-corrosive and will not become brittle and crumble. There are a wide range of PORON® materials available meet versatile design requirements.

APPLICATION HIGHLIGHTED PROPERTIES
- Excellent compression set resistance which enables durable, long-term performance for gasketing, sealing and cushioning.
- Low-outgassing and non-fogging, containing no plasticizers or residual chemicals to contaminate the device. The material will not become brittle and crumble and is non-corrosive to metal.
- Inherently flame retardant without the use of additives. Many of the materials meet flammability requirements of UL HBF and MVSS 302.
- Engineered urethane formulations offering a wide modulus range -2-90 psi 25% deflection -for more design versatility requirements.
- Good chemical resistance
- Easy to fabricate, die-cuts cleanly and works with a broad range of adhesives
- Broad range of formulas and thicknesses from 0.012″ to 0.500″ (0.43mm to 12.7mm)

The new AquaPro 37 formulation requires the lowest compression force of any PORON water sealing formulation in achieving a tight seal.
ShockPad Foam
.10mm-.15mm
PORON ShockPad Foam has always been a reliable impact solution when used behind gasketless MID displays, in front of printed wiring boards (PWB) and alongside other internal components. Now, with an even thinner profile, ShockPad is more versatile than ever.
ShockPad Foam-Plus Adhesive

PORON ShockPad Foam has always been a reliable impact solution when used behind gasketless MID displays, in front of printed wiring boards (PWB) and alongside other internal components. Now, with an even thinner profile, ShockPad is more versatile than ever.
Dura-Shape Materials
PORON materials are now available with a tough polyester film securely bonded between two layers of foam.
4790-79-Handheld
PORON ® ShockSeal™ foams are a trusted solution in sensitive handheld devices, and are now available to the general industrial markets as well. This thick grade material is ideal for applications which require gaskets, cushions, spacers or springs. ShockSeal materials perform best in environments where impact protection, long-term reliability, and high compression set resistance is a must.

SlimGrip Foam
When space is tight and display performance is critical, PORON® SlimGrip™ foam is an an ideal fit within mobile internet devices. SlimGrip foam is Rogers’ softest material yet. With a starting thickness of 0.5mm and the ability to squeeze into gaps less than 0.05mm, no space will go unfilled. In fact, SlimGrip foam requires one-third the force to achieve 0.05mm thickness compared to competitive materials, all while maintaining excellent rebound properties.
ThinStik Foams
PORON ThinStik materials are an all-in-one solution, combining Rogers’ highly compressible PORON urethane foam with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer built into its construction. This innovation enables higher compressibility than traditional laminated adhesive constructions to help designers ensure proper sealing and gap filling in ultra-thin device applications.
4701-15 Soft Seal
With new, improved surface toughness, PORON® Soft Seal series offers even greater peace of mind for flexible sealing and shock absorbing gaskets. Soft Seal Urethanes are now easier to use in assembly, while continuing to provide superior compressibility, conformability, and sealing.
4701-V0-Foam
As the HEV market continues to grow and evolve, advanced sealing materials are more important than ever. The materials of today and tomorrow need to offer reliable, long-term performance in a demanding environment, while also meeting rigorous specifications with passenger safety in mind. There are several materials that solve some of these problems, but only PORON® V-0 Urethane material can provide performance and UL94 V-0 certification.
