Silicone Rubber Products
Silicone rubber is an elastomer (rubber-like material) composed of silicone—itself a polymer—containing silicon together with carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Silicone rubbers are widely used in industry, and there are multiple formulations. Silicone rubbers are often one- or two-part polymers and may contain fillers to improve properties or reduce cost. Silicone rubber is generally non-reactive, stable, and resistant to extreme environments and temperatures from −55 to 300 °C (−67 to 572 °F) while still maintaining its useful properties.
Due to these properties and its ease of manufacturing and shaping, silicone rubber can be found in a wide variety of products, including: voltage line insulators, automotive applications; cooking, baking, and food storage products; apparel such as undergarments, sportswear, and footwear; electronics; medical devices and implants; and in-home repair and hardware with products such as silicone sealants.
Seal & Design is pleased to offer Silicone Engineering‘s family of high-quality silicone materials and products. Established in 1959, Silicone Engineering was one of the first pioneering companies to specialize in the manufacture and supply of silicone rubber for sealing, insulation, and protection of applications in a wide range of industrial sectors.

Silicone Engineering’s laboratory and innovation teams started to conduct in-depth research into the possibility of developing an antimicrobial silicone rubber to prevent strains of bacteria growing on the surface of the material. After trialing different formulations, the laboratory team finally developed neutraSil™

metectSil™ is a metal detectable silicone rubber that can be detected by integrated metal detectors fitted along the processing lines. In response to the commercial problems of downtime and large quantities of waste being produced from such contamination, Silicone Engineering endeavoured to develop an elegant solution which has culminated in their new product – metectSil™.
