SPONGE SILICONE
Seal & Design specializes in fabrication of silicone sponge material.
Most commercially available silicone sponge products are made from gum based polydimethylsiloxane (PMDS). The silicone elastomer is expanded at the time it is heat cured; the expansion process creates the closed cell sponge structure. The main difference between a “sponge” and a “foam” is that a sponge is closed cell while a foam is open cell.
Advantages of silicone sponge are a wide operating temperature, good water sealing properties, compression set resistance, and UV and ozone resistance. Silicone sponge rugged and is a good choice for applications in outdoor environments.
Seal & Design fabricates silicone sponges to meet customer specs. We can also provide the silicone sponge products with adhesive backings for easy end application. Check out our silicone sponge offerings below.

STANDARD SILICONE SPONGE
Silicone sponge is an excellent material for gasketing applications that require a soft compressible material. It is resistant to extreme temperatures and offers good compression set. It is available in Soft, Medium, Firm, and X- Firm Densities. Medium Density is the most popular. It is available in many colors. Generally the surface has a fine fabric finish on both sides and is available in continuous rolls up to 1/2″ thick and sheets up to 2″ thick.
